Bamboo Area Rugs Mats

I saw some really cool decorative bamboo rugs and bamboo mats that were decently priced during a recent trip to Pier 1. That got me thinking about using bamboo rugs and mats as a decorative piece instead of using fabric rugs, or wool rugs. The latter types of rugs tend to trap dust, which can cause problems for those who are sensitive to dust or are asthmatic. Bamboo area rugs or mats can be easily cleaned with a damp microfiber cloth as well.

Bamboo is also an environmentally friendly source for furniture.

Here are some interesting ways to use bamboo rugs and mats in your home.

About Bamboo

Bamboo has long been used for flooring in Asian countries. It is environmentally friendly as it is fast growing and there is a constant, plentiful supply available. It can be harvested within two years of planting without killing the host plant.

Bamboo has been used since ancient times. In heavily populated areas, bamboo is the one material that is both affordable and plentiful to supply housing needs. It also provides the raw material for many objects in daily use in the home and at work. Oriental scholars and artists have for centuries extolled the virtues of bamboo in paintings and verse.

Thanks for all the pictures! I've never seen a round bamboo area rug but I really like that one!
