The light warm country living room could use a carpet, don't you think? Right beside the coffee table would be the perfect spot. It will give the room a bit more warmth, just like what the carpet did in the earthy warm living room.
By the way, I hope that the house owner is not placing a carpet there just because he or she is worried about carpet cleaning. Long Island residents are not afraid of that. Carpet cleaners on Long Island have a good reputation for being professional and very effective. My neighbors and I are very content with them, so we're not anxious to use carpets, especially during parties.
